From a young age, I always had that creative flair and a passion for design.  Throughout my early career, I held various jobs within the event planning industry, culminating with running a successful business bringing all the elements of event management and design together.  It was during this time that I discovered my true love for flowers and I realised that this was the industry for me. 

 

I began my floristry journey studying at Moreton Morall Collage where I qualified with distinction in both my level 2 & 3.  Whilst studying, I was encouraged to enter national floristry competitions, where at first, the prospect of this seemed very daunting…especially when I received that first brief!  However, taking the leap into the world of competing is when my real passion for design and creativity ‘blossomed’, resulting in my first place trophy at the British Floristry Associations annual FleurEx competition in 2015.  

 

The achievement of a 1st place at FleurEx, encouraged me to compete in further competitions.  I went on to be a finalist in the UK Florist of the Year awards, achieving a second place in two competitions at Fleurex 2016. 

 

However, I am most proud of my most accomplished awards to date, which was winning Gold at the hugely celebrated and influential UK World Skills competition held at Birmingham’s NEC in November 2016 and most recently winning a Bronze medal at the Chelsea Flower Show 2018 in May and a silver gilt medal may 2019.  

 

Whilst studying at college, I supported myself by working full-time at a busy florist where I gained tremendous experience in all aspects of floristry.  I was given support and guidance, along with an understanding of what it was going to be like on the ‘coal face’ of running my own floristry business which was always my long term goal.
